Please lend your support

You don’t need to be a dog or cat expert to help your local rescue group. Often, they are in need of other skills.

Photographer: A good photo speaks a thousand words. Help a rescue group take photos of the dogs/cats for fliers and websites. Your skill in photography could help capture a potential owner’s interest.

Computer Expert: Build a website! They already have one? Offer to update it with information about the new dogs/cats available or to give it a more professional look.

Writer: Write a newsletter to help spread the word. Put together information packets for new and potential owners. More knowledgeable adopters will help reduce the “return” rate and create more responsible pet  owners!

Handyman: Since animal care is the priority at rescue shelters, often minor repair work may be needed. Fix a leaky sink. Rebuild broken steps. Install a new lock. Your hard work will be much appreciated by the staff and volunteers.

Administrative Expert: Swoop in with your filing skills and get that place organized! Help the group or shelter utilize its resources and personnel more efficiently.

Promoter: Got the gift of gab? Use it to help spread the word for animals  in need. Answer phones. Line up sponsors. Request donations from local businesses.

Party Planner: Arrange a fundraising activity. Be creative and get your community out to help dogs/cats in need!

Teacher: Use your skill in imparting knowledge to help train employees, volunteers and potential pet owners.

Advertising Exec: Help your rescue group expand its reach by finding new, innovative ways to get the word out about the animals in need of a home.

Super Saver: Clip and collect pet-related supply coupons from the Sunday paper. Let your rescue group know when a sale is going on and offer to act as a bargain-hunting shopper if they need you.

Inspector: Offer to assist in a home check. Evaluate applications for dog/cat adoptions. Your keen eye will ensure that the dogs/cats all find suitable homes! Foster a dog/cat. Take dogs for walks or to the vet. Help with grooming and cleaning.
